Choose what your child is working through: bedtime, screen time, big feelings, sharing, confidence and more. Maple Kids creates a personalized story around your child and includes a Parent Guide with conversation prompts and simple real-life practice.
Each one creates a story built around that exact challenge.
More than a story. A way to practice together.
Five simple steps, repeated at your own pace, designed to support everyday learning, not to replace professional support.
01
Recognize
The story begins with a situation your child recognizes from real life.
→
02
Rehearse
The story models an age-appropriate response, skill, routine or coping strategy.
→
03
Talk
The Parent Guide gives the adult simple questions and language to use while reading.
→
04
Practice
The family receives one small real-life activity connected to the story.
→
05
Repeat
The story can be revisited so the idea and language become increasingly familiar.
Parent Guide included with every behavioral story
The story is for your child. The Parent Guide is for you.
Every behavioral story explains what the story is trying to teach, what each important page is doing, what you can ask while reading, and one small way to practice the idea in real life.
Story page
Page 5: When the screen goes dark
“When the screen went quiet, Alex's chest went hot and fast. It felt like a shout waiting inside. Alex put one hand there and said, out loud, “All done.””
Illustrated with your child as the hero, in your family's language.

What this page is doing
Helping the child notice and name frustration before choosing the next response.
Ask
“What is Alex feeling right now?”“What could Alex do with that big feeling?”
Words to repeat
“It's okay to feel upset. The screen can still be all done.”
Try it in real life
Practice saying “all done” together before the next screen session.

Evidence-informed
Built on how children learn through stories and relationships.
Maple Kids uses evidence-informed principles from shared reading, child development, social-emotional learning, parent-child interaction and guided practice.
Shared Reading & Development
The American Academy of Pediatrics states that shared reading can support parent-child relationships and social-emotional, cognitive, language and literacy development.
Klass P, Miller-Fitzwater A, High PC, et al. “Literacy Promotion: An Essential Component of Primary Care Pediatric Practice.” Pediatrics. 2024;154(6):e2024069090.
Randomized research has found that interventions promoting parent-child shared reading and play can improve pathways associated with children's behavioral outcomes.
Weisleder A, Cates CB, Harding JF, et al. “Links between Shared Reading and Play, Parent Psychosocial Functioning, and Child Behavior: Evidence from a Randomized Controlled Trial.” Journal of Pediatrics. 2019;213:187-195.e1.
A randomized study of four- to five-year-old children found that repeated shared reading of socially themed picture books was associated with improvements in empathy and prosocial behavior.
Chen H, Lyu D, Zhu L. “The effectiveness of social-themed picture book reading in promoting children's prosocial behavior.” Frontiers in Psychology. 2025.
Structured emotion-themed picture-book activities have been associated with improvements in preschool children's emotion recognition, expression and regulation strategies.
Wang L, Cui R, Wan N, Hu W. “Reshaping the Ability–Strategy Link in Emotion Regulation: The Role of a Structured Picture-Book Intervention for Preschoolers.” Behavioral Sciences. 2025;15(8):1137.
These studies examine shared reading and picture books in general. They did not test Maple Kids, and they are not a promise of results for any individual child.
A simple rhythm families can return to as often as they like, at their own pace.
Step 1
Read
Read the story together.
Step 2
Talk
Use the Parent Guide prompts.
Step 3
Practice
Try one small skill outside the story.
Step 4
Repeat
Return to the story across multiple reading sessions.
Step 5
Notice
Celebrate effort and small progress.
Every child and every family is different. Maple Kids does not promise a timeline or a specific result after a set number of readings.
A few short questions. Then the story is theirs.
For a behavioral story we ask a little more than a name and a photo, so the story can match the real moment at home. It takes a couple of minutes, and there are no wrong answers. This is not an assessment or a diagnosis.
Every story comes with a narrated audiobook, so it can be read together at bedtime or listened to in the car.
